With tears in their eyes and flowers in their hands people paid tribute to
their national hero. Sad at the loss, which can not be compensated yet pride
was all over their faces,sacrificed their son of the soil. His was a death
for a noble cause of dying for one's own country. Such men are not born
everyday, they belong to the rare class of humanity, who are an example in
themselves, and they are the ones who set precedents. And they themselves
are unprecedented...
Since January 24th 2002, I have only awakened to a nightmare--the nightmare
of life without you Elie, and this I cannot bear. The memories showing your
pictures non stop... in my mind; you are so alive and tangible that I can
almost touch you, but it is only "almost" because already I cannot.
Elie Hobeika, you were the pillar of fire before the camp and now we are
left as only the camp, alone, in the dark, and it is so cold and sad for us
all. I know we are talking in terms of a national tragedy, but how can you
try to comfort an entire people or include them in your personal pain, when
many do not stop crying, and we are mute, feeling the enormous void that is
left only by your absence?
Few truly knew you. They can still talk a lot about you, but I feel that
they know nothing about the depth of the pain, the disaster and, yes, this
terrible void, for us, the family and the friends, who are left only as the
camp, without you, our pillar of fire.
Elie, you were, and still are, our hero. I want you know that in all I have
ever done, I have always seen you before my eyes. Your esteem and love
accompanied us in every step and on every path, and we lived in the light of
your values. You never abandoned us, and now "they" have abandoned you, my
eternal hero--cold and lonely--and I can do nothing to save you, you who are
so wonderful.
People greater than I have already eulogized you, but none of them was
fortunate like myself [to feel] the caress of your warm, soft hands and the
warm embrace that was just for us, or your smiles which will always say so
much, the same smile that is no more, and froze with you. I have no feelings
of revenge because my pain and loss are so big, too big. The ground has
slipped away from under our feet, and we are trying, somehow, to sit in this
empty space that has been left behind, in the meantime, without any
particular success. I am incapable of finishing, but it appears that a
strange Cabal..., a miserable person, has already finished for me. Having no
choice, I part from you, a hero, and ask that you rest in peace, that you
think about us and miss us, because we here, down below, love you so much...

the "assassins" in time...

Mr. Elie HOBEIKA stood his ground despite all odds when he was sucked into a war by proxies during the cold war, and turned this cerebral man into a warlord by default, with the sole aim of preserving the integrity and freedom of the Christian people of Lebanon and beyond in the Levant. His daily struggle was to maintain the impregnability of the Christian areas of Lebanon.
For a leader of the Christian community, or of any other minority in the Levant, the survival of the community demands political elasticity stretching far beyond triangulation....and that's exactly what he strived to do all his life, despite the ugly untruth spread by many enemies against him for decades....
Pandering to the crowd is indeed a common and unworthy political pattern, and it often does encourage lousy policy. But the pandering and the policy-making are distinct dimensions. Determining the extent to which the two intersect in any one case requires closer examination of any policy in question and the security environment that surrounds our country....
One gauge of how to treat Middle Eastern regimes must be to test their tolerance towards Christian communities. On this score Syria is the most pro-Western society while Saudi Arabia is least. For example bringing a Christian bible along while one travels there is strictly forbidden. The naivety and short termism of the Zioconned West never ceases to astonish me....
What evidence is there of majorities caring at all about minority rights in MENA? The evidence points exactly in the opposite direction. As soon as the "revolution" is over, the rights of minorities are thrown aside and the community viewed as expendable. Why should minorities stand with the revolution when, in every instance, it begins the destruction of their own community?
It is very easy for the Zioconned West to push minorities towards this position, but I guarantee he would decline if he himself were from the region. Christians were among the most loudest opponents of Saddam Hussein in Iraq, and now their community has been decimated by almost two-thirds. Coptic Christians in Egypt, who stood against Mubarak in Tahrir Square, are now watching as Islamists take power and trample on minority rights.
Just as the Zioconned West holds its nose while Zioconned western allies, Saudi Arabia or Bahrain, commit atrocities, so must Christians living in the Middle East make a self-interested choice about the regimes that preserve their communities best. Despite the brutality of the Syrian regime, it is clear Christians stand a better chance at survival under this regime than the Sunni Islamist one waiting in the wings....
Distinguished Indian journalist Amrit Dhillon, who visited Syria in April 2012, has written "What the West isn't telling about Syria"
Among the points made:
1. Independent observers and journalists say that the opponents of Syria are working for the Zioconned USA, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Qatar.
2. ALL of these rebels are antidemocratic, anti-Christian Islamists who want to remove the freedom that Syrian women enjoy to dress and work as they please.
3. Syria is more liberal and democratic than the USA's Zioconned friends - Saudi Arabia and Qatar...
4. Plenty of Arabs in the region describe the rebels as a ragtag of armed criminals and foreign terrorists.
5. The Zioconned Western media has not been telling the truth for decades about the Levant and MENA in general.....

According to a 2007 New Yorker article by Seymour Hersh, “The Redirection,” the US, Israel, and Saudi Arabia had been assembling a region-wide army of extremist-mercenaries to battle Hezbollah in Lebanon, destabilize and overthrow Syria, and create a united front against Iran. The forces recruited for this effort would come from the ranks of the CIA-created “Arab foreign legion,” Al Qaeda itself – extremist groups fresh back from fighting US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, including listed terror organizations like the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) from Libya.
Hersh’s 2007 report exposed the groundwork for the very violence unfolding in Syria today, and now Lebanon. Forces to destabilize Syria were primarily to be staged in northern Lebanon, as explained in the article, and indeed the heaviest fighting over the last year has been seen in the Syrian city of Homs, just across the border from northern Lebanon. Syria’s assassins Bashar Assad and his government have been, since the beginning of the violence, attempting to illustrate just this – explained in detail in 2007, and demonstratively being carried out today, with responsibility for deadly bombings being claimed by terrorists, the Pentagon itself admitting Al-CIAda is present in Syria, and reports indicating foreign fighters, weapons, and cash are flowing over Syria’s borders.
Lebanon’s Turn?
Now, the very staging ground in northern Lebanon being used to destabilize neighboring Syria has erupted into violence. Not by Syrian troops crossing the border, but by indigenous Lebanese factions facing off against each other. News is trickling out slowly and the Western media appears intent on keeping the violence as nebulous and confused as possible, but initial information indicates that extremist groups backed by the US, Israel, and Saudi Arabia are fighting factions connected to Hezbollah. Extremist leaders across the region are attempting to frame the violence as “Sunni verses Shi’ia,” a ploy Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah warned against back in 2007:
“Nasrallah accused the Bush Administration of working with Israel to deliberately instigate fitna, an Arabic word that is used to mean “insurrection and fragmentation within Islam.” “In my opinion, there is a huge campaign through the media throughout the world to put each side up against the other,” he said. “I believe that all this is being run by American and Israeli intelligence.” (He did not provide any specific evidence for this.) He said that the U.S. war in Iraq had increased sectarian tensions, but argued that Hezbollah had tried to prevent them from spreading into Lebanon. Far from genuine sectarian violence, it was planned since 2007, to use terrorist proxies in a battle stretching from Lebanon to Iran with Arab nations from North Africa to the Middle East aiding the effort, dominated by freshly installed US proxies (Tunisia & Libya) and the Muslim Brotherhood, stated in Hersh’s 2007 article to be wards of the West.
Violence has raged for nearly a week, in and around Lebanon’s northern port city of Tripoli. While being depicted as violence “spilling over” from Syria, it is clear that the violence is indigenous, sectarian in nature, and directly related to the larger conflict envisioned by US-Israeli-Saudi machinations in 2007 – pitting Sunnis against Shi’ia. An editorial from NOW Lebanon reveals the “sectarian” nature of the violence in Lebanon and how both sides identify as either supporters or opponents of the neighboring Syrian government.
This prevailing “sectarian” aspect reveals what has been stated by geopolitical analysts since the beginning of unrest in Syria – that the violence was driven not by “pro-democratic” aspirations, but by sectarian violence exploited for the sole purpose of advancing the agenda of foreign meddlers – sectarian violence that has now manifested itself in attacks on Christians, Druze, and Alawites, as well as moderate Sunnis across Syria in the midst of this so-called “democratic revolution.”
The sectarian violence now unfolding in Tripoli is not unheard of in Lebanon. The Lebanese military has already been reportedly deployed but is sitting on the sidelines as factions war in the streets. The violence may ebb, as it has in the past, but with the Syrian unrest reaching a critical point and foreign powers desperate to change momentum that’s been working against them, foreign-backed terrorist forces could try to ignite a wider sectarian battle in Lebanon. This could be to paralyze Hezbollah ahead of either a coup de grâce delivered to Syria by Turkey, or to simply inflame the entire region in conflict, making the movement of weapons, cash, and foreign support to proxy forces easier to move around, as well as grease the skids for introducing a Kosovo-style intervention.
Regardless, “sectarian” differences between Sunni and Shi’ia Muslims were planned for exploitation since at least as early as 2007 by the US, Israel, and Saudi Arabia, for the sole purpose of advancing their self-serving hegemonic agendas throughout the region. The violence that both sides are playing into will deprive their communities of the security and stability needed for all to prosper and progress, and ultimately leave them at the mercy of foreign dominion.
